The purpose of this BLOG is to create a space to post my thoughts about church, theology, and faith in a straightforward - and hopefully cordial - way.
WHY CONTRARIAN?
I don't intend to be contrary for the sake of contrarianism (that's a thing, right?). I detest controversy for the sake of attention or ruse. The reason for naming the BLOG Contrarian is simply because that is where I find myself in today's theological climate. I reject the Reformed Movement that has swept through America. I reject Calvinism, as well as Arminianism, and hope to show that there is a robust theological system that falls outside both of those camps. I mourn for the institutionalized church that has prioritized power over people as well as the section of the church that has watered down truth to bow to the authority of culture.
What will make it on this BLOG are the thoughts that only my computer screen usually hears, the rants that my poor wife has to endure when I'm too worked up to sleep, the sermons that may never get preached, and opinions that may not be all that popular.
I am not a debater. I have submitted my life to reaching the lost and helping believers join the movement of Jesus. However, My mind is filled with thoughts about the current climate of the church and the modern theological movements that are prevalent today. This BLOG is where I have decided to put that content.
You may disagree, and that is ok! You may hate it, and that is fine! I promise you are under no compulsion to read on.
My prayer is that someone finds it helpful. I believe there are people who are dissatisfied with what feels like the only options Theologically, Philosophically, and Methodologically in the church world right now. May these words help you on the path to God's purpose for your life.
